| The sample in gas feature provides a way to insert a separate sample chamber inside the cooled sample space. This chamber may be filled with another gas, or it may be simply used to insert and removed samples for faster cooldown. The system is based on the standard Cryostation, with a new window assembly which includes the new sample space, access sleeve, and removable post with gas baffles. To set the feature up, insert the sleeve with sample space and cool the unit down. Then mount your sample in the sample space, on the end of the access post, and insert this into the sleeve. The sample space then has excellent thermal contact to the cold stage and fully cools. |

These images show the system being assembled. First the radiation shield is put in place. Next the window assembly is mounted. Note that this window assembly shown is rotated 45 degrees from the 50mm window model, and either configuration of the windows may be used. Next the access sleeve with sample chamber is inserted into the radiation shield. The fourth image shows the assembly with the sleeve in place, ready for the sample on the access post. The last image shows the completed assembly, with the sample post in place.
