We are excited to have sponsored Laura Kinnischtzke, a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Rochester, for presenting her research at the APS March Meeting 2017. Laura is a recipient of our Cold Science Exploration Awards Student Travel Grant.
Student Travel Grant - Laura Kinnischtzke
Posted 10 April, 2017
DESCRIPTION OF PRINCIPAL RESEARCH:
Laura's research concentration is in solid-state quantum optics. Their approach to voltage sensing leverages electric field control of InAs quantum dots to measure changes in the photoluminescence spectrum when the quantum dot is in the presense of a tailored voltage profile. Her paper "Imaging potential energy landscapes with quantum dots" explores the measurement of potential landscapes in proximal metals using a charge-tunable quantum dot device architecture.
