We Are Looking For:

Montana Instruments, a growing high-tech Company in Bozeman Montana, is seeking an Assembly Technician III. The Assembly Technician III is responsible for building and testing mechanical, electrical, and optical assemblies using engineering drawings and manufacturing assembly instructions.  They perform in process testing and troubleshooting.  They build both basic and more complex subassemblies.  Quality control is important throughout the assembly process, so the assembler looks for faulty or incorrect components and mistakes in the assembly process.  They help fix problems before defective products are made.


·        Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions and parts lists; organizes parts, tools, and materials

·        Build sub-assemblies on time with excellent quality control

·        Solders through-hole and surface mount components

·        Conduct tests and collect data

·        Support corrective action initiatives by providing feedback and recording all production issues

·        Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

·        Works to identify and document best known methods when assembly instructions do not exist

·        May work with Manufacturing Engineering on introduction of new products into the assembly process, including generation of manufacturing assembly instructions

Minimum Qualifications:

·        High school diploma or GED required

·        5-8 years relevant work experience

·        High attention to detail

·        Background knowledge/interest in science and engineering

·        Able to read and understand engineering drawings

·        Able to work with others and be able to work independently

·        Able to perform work under a microscope

·        Able to work with small tools such as tweezers, fine screwdrivers and soldering irons

·        Demonstrate a strong curiosity to learn new things

·        Produce work with unblemished visual quality

·        Focus on customer experience

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

·        Work is typically performed at a bench and may include walking or standing for periods of time

·        Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
